Masquerade Wedding at Moxhull Hall, Sutton Coldfield
On 15th June, we had the pleasure of capturing Anne-Marie and Roy’s special day at Moxhull Hall in Sutton Coldfield.
The theme of the wedding was Masquerade, which was absolutely fantastic. All of their family and friends embraced the theme, wearing masks in every colour and style possible. The bride looked stunning in blue and green, with peacock feathers. The ceremony took place in Calliope’s Garden under the gazebo. The weather was certainly on the happy couple’s side with glorious sunshine. Walking down the aisle, the Bridesmaid and Page Boys put on an excellent show, announcing the Bride’s arrival. As a personal touch to the service, the Groom walked up to meet his Bride, to walk down the aisle together, which was truly lovely.
After the ceremony, as an added personal touch, a gold picture frame and chalk boards were waiting for us at Reception. In place of a Guest Book, the Bride and Groom wanted their guests to write a message on the chalk board and have their photograph taken in the frame. These shots were arranged and taken by Vicky, whilst Phil was with the Bride and Groom doing their portraiture.
Below are some of the images from their day.

Jamie-Leigh and Pete’s Farm Wedding
On 1st July, we had the absolute pleasure of providing wedding photography for Jamie-Leigh and Pete’s farm wedding. The ceremony was conducted at Nettle Hill in Coventry followed by reception on their farm in Nuneaton.
This was a truly traditional farm wedding. The theme execution was absolutely spot on, with every attention to detail. The work that the couple put in to make the farm into a perfect wedding venue was immense. They built a haystack stage for the entertainment to perform on, built a swing and bridge over the pond for the photographs, dressed the marquee superbly, and even built a bar using an old box trailer. This was a dream wedding to photograph with so many shot opportunities.
Here are just a few of the images.
Bridal party arriving by tractor – superb start to the day!
The ceremony was intimate and lovely
The Groom being coy with the kiss, but don’t worry, we caught it from the back of the room. The advantage of two ‘togs’ being there to capture different view points.
Travelling in style, from tractor to the very rare Polaris
Stunning portraiture on the purpose built bridge and swing
The confetti shot
The cake, love it!
Traditional barn dance by the bridal party kicked off the evening party.
This will be one of our most memorable weddings. Thank you so much to Jamie-Leigh and Pete for choosing us to record your special day. Note to the couple – as mentioned on the day, you should open this up as a wedding venue – it’s amazing!!

Wedding Photography for Jasmin and Klaus
On 3 June 2017, we had the pleasure of providing the wedding photography for Jasmin and Klaus at The Plough and Harrow Hotel in Birmingham.
The happy couple were joined by their family and friends, many of which had flown in from Germany. The ceremony was held at St Dunstan’s in Kings Heath, Birmingham. Followed by Reception at the stunning Plough and Harrow Hotel. The hotel’s Victorian architecture offers a beautiful backdrop to group photos and Bridal portraiture. We very much like working at this venue, the staff are excellent to work alongside and co-ordinated with great precision.
The day was very relaxed, and thoroughly enjoyed by all. As the couple are from Germany, some of their customs were incorporated in their day. Such as having the speeches in between courses, which worked really well. One of our customs that did take them by surprise was when I jumped in the front seat of the car to take their photo before leaving the chapel. This is one of my favourite shots, so it had to be done.
Below are few of our favourite shots from the day. We would like to thank Jasmin and Klaus for choosing Philip Charles Photography and wish you all the best for your future together.

On 15th October 2016, we had the pleasure of providing the wedding photography for Liz and John at the stunning Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel in Birmingham.
Castle Bromwich Hall is a 16th century country house hotel. This is a dream venue for any happy couple planning their special day. Also a dream venue for any photographer! With its magnificent architecture, this is the perfect back drop for the wedding car shot. The wedding cars for Liz and John were provided by our friends at Love Wedding Cars. The gardens provide many outstanding backdrops for the portraiture shots and the group shots. I’m sure every photographer attending this venue is spoilt for choice, as we were.
Liz and John’s day was truly lovely and special surrounded by their family and friends. Philip Charles was there to record their treasured moments from the start including Bridal and Groom preps, right the way through to their first dance. We had so many images to choose from, which made the selection for this post difficult, however, please see below a few of our favourites.
We would like to thank the happy couple again for choosing Philip Charles to be part of your special day. Can’t wait to get to work on your album.

On 16 July 2016 we had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Jane and Lee. As the recommended Wedding Photographer at Ramada Sutton Coldfield, we have provided many happy couples with their wedding images and albums. Jane and Lee’s ceremony took place in the oldest part of the hotel, with all it’s classic features including wooden beams and stained glass windows. The ceremony was lovely, and also provided a few laughs as the bride got a little tongue. On the day, you are so anxious of getting the words right, it is inevitable the odd word is mispronounced. Even though we had a chuckle, we captured these great moments.
Following the ceremony, everyone headed out to the garden for a few drinks and more laughs. The hotel gardens provide a stunning backdrop with it’s lake, stone features and greenery archway. The weather was superb which provided great natural lighting. The wedding breakfast and evening reception was hosted in the Lakeside Suite.
Our great relationship with Ramada, and knowledge of the hotel, allows us to move freely around the venue getting in to elevated positions to produce great shots. We do offer a 10% discount across all of our wedding photography packages for bookings at Ramada Sutton Coldfield. Click here to see our wedding packages.
Here are few more of our favourite shots. We would like thank Jane and Lee for choosing Philip Charles Photography and allowing us to be part of their day. We wish you a long and happy future.

On 25th June 2016 we had the pleasure of providing wedding photography for Gemma and Justin. The ceremony was held at the Methodist Church in Four Oaks, followed by reception at Ramada Birmingham Sutton Coldfield. The day began at the Bride’s parents home to capture the bridal preparations – perfect opportunity for plenty of candid shots. The bridal party was then transported to the ceremony by Love Wedding Cars. The ceremony was beautiful with lots of personal touches, including the Bride’s father taking to the piano.
Here are some images from the day. If you would like to discuss your wedding photography, please contact us.
Wedding Photos in Tamworth Castle Grounds
Our hometown’s Tamworth Castle Grounds is a stunning location for wedding photos. With the iconic Castle, floral terrace and bandstand, this is the perfect backdrop for your wedding photography.
With numerous local wedding venues close by, including Drayton Manor and Lea Marston Hotel, many couples choose to have their photos taken in the Castle Grounds before heading to the Reception venue. The obelisk and Lady Bank bridge is also on our list of excellent backdrops.
At one of our recent weddings, the happy couple married at Polesworth Abbey. Before heading to their reception at Lea Marston Hotel, we went into the Castle Grounds. The timing could not have been better, when we arrived there was a battle reenactment. The Groom was in the armed forces and dressed in uniform, therefore we could not miss the opportunity to involve the battle actors, image is below.

Wedding Photography at St Margaret’s, Great Barr
On 18th June 2016 we had the pleasure of providing Wedding Photography for Lisa and Ross at St Margaret’s Church, Great Barr. St Margaret’s is a truly magnificent church providing a stunning backdrop. From the high beams and stained glass windows inside, to the lovely grounds. With all of the greenery and the building itself, we captured beautiful bridal portraiture and had plenty of space for the group shot of all the guests, also our favourite shot – the confetti.
The Bride and Groom were very relaxed throughout, clearly enjoying every moment of their special day. Our photography captures these moments, including laughter and tears (of joy). We also capture the small details, such as special groomsmen socks and a car full of balloons?? (we’re still not sure why?)
We would like to thank Lisa and Ross for choosing Philip Charles Photography and letting us be part of your special day. We wish you both our warmest wishes for a long and happy future. Here’s a few more of our favourite images.

Jill and John’s Wedding Photos
On Saturday 28th May 2016, we had the pleasure of providing wedding photography for Jill and John at Ramada Sutton Coldfield. The ceremony took place in the oldest part of the hotel, in the Restaurant. The beautiful original stained glass windows provided a beautiful backdrop. Surrounded by their family and friends, the happy couple exchanged vows and became Mr and Mrs Baxter.
Following the ceremony, and a glass of bubbly, we went in to the hotel’s grounds. The stunning greenery and lake is the perfect backdrop for the Bride and Groom portraiture, and group shots. The day was co-ordinated with precision by Sam, ensuring the schedule of the day was flawless from the arrival of guests, right up to the last dance. It was a lovely wedding and we very much enjoyed being part of their day.
Jill and John now have the task of agreeing on their favourite images for their album. Below are a few of our personal favourites from the day.

Back in March 2016, Cath & John dropped in to the Philip Charles Photography studio to tell us a massive secret, and wanted our help as they announced their news to their family and friends. Needless to say we were intrigued and honoured that they came to us. We took Cath & John’s portrait photo at the New Years Eve Gala at Sutton Coldfield Ramada, they liked the photos so much that they chose us to be part of their celebration.
They had booked Nuthurst Grange for 07 May 2016 to make their announcement. They gathered all of their family and friends, not one of them knowing the reason. A video was played to the guests explaining why they were all there – Cath & John married in secret before Christmas in America in a HOT AIR BALLOON!!
Following the video (and lots of hugs, tears and laughter), everyone was ushered outside with a balloon to where we were waiting. We arranged everyone on the lawn for a mass balloon release in honour of their wedding venue. This was one of the most nerve racking moments of our photography life! Picture the scene – 80 guests all with a balloon each (no spares), only 1 chance to get the shot! We spent over an hour setting up, and loads of test shots. Once the group was arranged and providing clear instructions to release on the count of 3, not after, not before, actually on 3 (and final check that the lens cap was off), the balloons were released. It was all over in less than 3 seconds – phew, we got the shot!
Every guest received a mounted copy of the photo to take home. As we gave out the photo’s all of the guests commented on how good the photo was and how lovely that they received a copy.
We would like to thank Cath & John for choosing Philip Charles Photography, it was a real honour.
If you would like Philip Charles Photography to be a part of your celebration, whatever that may be, please get in contact.
